Corporate Development Lead (Life Sciences)

Location: San Francisco, CA; hybrid policy requiring staff to be in an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time

Annual salary: $425,000–$600,000 USD

What you will do

• Define and execute corporate development strategy across acquihires, acquisitions, minority investments, and strategic partnerships in life sciences.
• Build a target pipeline across drug discovery, clinical development, regulatory and medical writing, lab automation, and healthcare data infrastructure.
• Lead transactions end to end, including sourcing, diligence, negotiation, signing, and integration.
• Partner with research, product, engineering, go-to-market, legal, finance, and policy teams to assess opportunities and structure complex deals.
• Conduct scientific, data, regulatory, privacy, quality, IP, financial, and competitive diligence.
• Present strategic recommendations to executive leadership and the board while building relationships with founders, investors, pharma companies, CROs, and research institutions.

Requirements

• Experience leading complex M&A, investment, or partnership transactions from sourcing through close.
• Strong understanding of the drug development lifecycle, from discovery and clinical trials through regulatory submission and commercialization.
• Technical fluency in AI and software, alongside strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
• Ability to engage credibly with scientists, engineers, executives, and regulators in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
• Deep interest in AI safety and Anthropic’s mission.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field; the internal job level determines the required years of experience.

Nice to have

• 8–12 years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, or investing, including at least 5 years in life sciences, biotech, or healthcare technology.
• Advanced degree in life sciences or an MBA.
• Experience in pharmaceuticals, biotech, CROs, life sciences software, or AI/ML applied to biology, chemistry, or clinical operations.
• Experience with GxP, HIPAA, cross-border transactions, post-merger integration, or building a new business unit.
• Established relationships with life sciences founders, healthcare VCs, and pharma business development leaders.
