Corporate Development Lead, Life Sciences (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA, United States. Hybrid policy: staff are expected to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time, with some roles requiring more office time.

Annual salary: $425,000–$600,000 USD.

What you will do

• Define and execute the corporate development strategy for life sciences, including acquisitions, acquihires, minority investments, and strategic partnerships.
• Build a pipeline of AI-native companies across drug discovery, clinical development, regulatory and medical writing, lab automation, and healthcare data infrastructure.
• Lead transactions from sourcing and diligence through negotiation, signing, and integration.
• Partner with research, product, engineering, legal, finance, policy, and go-to-market teams to assess opportunities.
• Conduct scientific, data, regulatory, privacy, quality systems, intellectual property, financial, and competitive analyses.
• Present strategic recommendations to executive leadership and the board while supporting partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, CROs, and research organizations.

Requirements

• Experience leading complex M&A, investment, or partnership transactions from sourcing through close.
• Strong understanding of the drug development lifecycle, including discovery, clinical trials, regulatory submission, and commercialization.
• Technical fluency in AI and software, together with strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
• Ability to engage credibly with scientists, engineers, executives, and regulators in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
• Deep interest in AI safety and Anthropic’s mission.
• Visa sponsorship is available, subject to role and candidate eligibility.

Nice to have

• 8–12 years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, or investing, including at least 5 years in life sciences, biotech, or healthcare technology.
• Advanced degree in life sciences or an MBA.
• Experience at a pharmaceutical company, biotech, CRO, or life sciences software company.
• Experience applying AI/ML to biology, chemistry, or clinical operations.
• Experience with GxP, HIPAA, cross-border transactions, post-merger integration, or building a new business unit.
