V&V Systems Lead (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Onsite five days a week at the Santa Clara, California office

Salary: $180,000–$260,000 per year

What you will do

• Architect and govern the end-to-end verification and validation strategy across SIL, HIL, track, and public-road testing.
• Own the empirical evidence layer of the safety case and demonstrate verification and validation of system requirements.
• Build and enforce end-to-end traceability from safety requirements and HAZOP/STPA mitigations to test procedures and execution results in Jama and Jira.
• Act as the technical sign-off authority for software and fleet updates intended for driverless commercial operations.
• Coordinate testing strategies across simulation, HIL bench, track, and field deployment teams to close edge-case coverage gaps.
• Prepare V&V summaries and present audit-ready evidence to internal safety boards and third-party auditors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or Aerospace Engineering.
• 8+ years leading systems verification and validation programs for safety-critical autonomous systems, aerospace, or automotive platforms.
• Mastery of the systems V-model lifecycle and safety standards including ISO 26262, UL 4600, and ISO 21448.
• Experience leading release gate sign-offs for safety-critical commercial products.
• Mastery of requirements management and test execution tools, including Jama and DOORS.
• Deep understanding of balancing SIL/HIL testing with track and fleet testing to establish statistical confidence in system safety.

• Experience leading V&V sign-off for a fully commercialized, uncrewed autonomous vehicle system.
• Experience managing cross-functional technical teams across hardware, software, and field operations.
