Senior Software Engineer (Cloud Security)

Location: Fully remote within the USA; candidates near hirify.global offices may choose a hybrid schedule with in-office work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is required.

Salary: $153,000–$166,000 annually, adjusted based on location, experience, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and operate automated preventive and detective security guardrails across enterprise AWS environments.
• Build enforceable controls that prevent or automatically remediate high-risk cloud misconfigurations and improve protection for internet-facing systems.
• Enhance Unified Vulnerability Management workflows, including vulnerability intake, enrichment, ticketing, prioritization, and response automation.
• Develop engineering solutions that improve security detection quality, triage, remediation velocity, and operational metrics.
• Implement standardized security checks and product security maturity telemetry in Backstage.
• Support CSPM platform continuity, deliver a replacement CSPM proof of concept, and address capability gaps with supplemental guardrails.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with extensive full-stack proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Deep understanding of AWS services including IAM, KMS, EC2, EventBridge, ECS, Config, CloudTrail, CloudFormation, and Lambda.
• Experience with AWS CloudFormation, CDK, or Serverless Framework for infrastructure automation.
• Working knowledge of IP networking, VPNs, DNS, load balancing, and firewalling.
• Experience establishing software engineering guidelines, conducting code and design reviews, and documenting architecture artifacts.
• Authorization to work in the United States for any employer.

Nice to have

• Pair programming or mob programming experience.
• DevOps and CI/CD automation experience.
• Strong knowledge of cloud security, application security, and security engineering.
• Platform Engineering or open-source project experience.
• AWS professional-level or Security Specialty certification, SQL or NoSQL database experience, and advanced Agentic Engineering or AIDLC experience.
