ML Data & Platform Engineer (Speech AI)

Location: Cambridge, England, United Kingdom; hybrid with 2–3 designated office days each week

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable pipelines for ingesting, transforming, validating, and storing large training datasets.
• Develop web scraping and data acquisition solutions to keep datasets fresh, reliable, and available at scale.
• Build and operate infrastructure for rapid model deployment, evaluation, and efficient production serving.
• Optimise GPU utilisation, job scheduling, training efficiency, iteration speed, and production reliability.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting across data pipelines and ML systems.
• Troubleshoot distributed systems and improve data and MLOps practices as the platform scales.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL with a backend or data engineering foundation.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and a major cloud provider.
• Experience building large-scale data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes, including web scraping or automated data collection.
• Understanding of the ML lifecycle, including data preparation, model training, evaluation, and serving.
• Experience with data quality practices, production observability, resilient architectures, and distributed systems troubleshooting.
• MLOps experience such as model serving, experiment tracking, GPU or distributed training optimisation, or reproducible ML workflows.
