Head of Technical Training (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA. Based in San Francisco or willing to relocate with relocation support. Required office presence is three days in a normal week and every day a program runs; travel is expected at 25–30%.

Annual salary: $365,000–$435,000 USD.

What you will do

• Teach hands-on technical sessions for Applied AI engineers, field teams, partners, and other technical practitioners.
• Build and develop a bench of instructors and curriculum developers, including hiring, performance management, and contract renewal recommendations.
• Define observation rubrics, dry-run protocols, and cleared-to-teach standards for technical sessions.
• Build train-the-trainer programs for internal experts, contract instructors, and partner facilitators.
• Turn internal technical expertise into effective live sessions and hands-on labs.
• Measure learner pass rates by instructor and continuously improve instructional quality.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant experience across software engineering, solutions engineering, developer advocacy, technical education, or related technical roles.
• 4+ years of hands-on technical instruction for engineers across different audience sizes.
• Experience writing and shipping production software, with credible architecture and debugging expertise.
• Recent hands-on development with LLM APIs, agent frameworks, tool use, MCP, or similar technologies.
• Experience managing instructors, trainers, developer advocates, or solutions engineers while continuing to teach.
• Must be based in San Francisco or willing to relocate, work from the office as required, and travel 25–30%.

Nice to have

• Experience building an instruction or developer-education function from scratch.
• Experience managing contractor instructor benches or evaluating instructors across regions.
• Daily use of Claude Code or a comparable agentic coding tool.
• Experience building with Claude through Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, or Microsoft Foundry.
• Strong interest in responsible AI development.
