Engineering Signal Management Trainee 2027

Location: Auburn, Washington or Chicago, Illinois, with required relocation anywhere on the hirify.global operating system in the United States and travel of up to 75%.

What you will do

• Inspect, maintain, repair, and construct wayside signals, highway grade crossings, signal bungalows, and related infrastructure.
• Plan and schedule maintenance and repairs, and verify the quality of completed work.
• Support infrastructure expansion and oversee projects affecting BNSF property.
• Ensure team safety in indoor, outdoor, shop, terminal, and field environments.
• Manage project finances, schedules, and stakeholder communication.
• Shadow signal supervisors, construction supervisors, maintainers, managers, and directors during the training program.

Requirements

• Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship, including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN sponsorship.
• At least 18 years old at hire and holding or obtaining a valid driver's license.
• Currently pursuing or already holding a bachelor's or graduate degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a related field.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and fewer than three years of professional work or military experience, excluding internships and work completed during study.
• Ability to work in a 24/7 environment, including nights, weekends, holidays, on-call periods, overtime, and alternating shifts.
• Willingness to relocate anywhere on the hirify.global operating system and travel up to 75% of the time; reliable transportation is required.

• Internship or early-career experience in engineering, business, construction, or a related field.
• Leadership experience in a campus, community, or extracurricular organization.
