Network Strategy (Capacity Planning) Summer Intern 2027

Location: Fort Worth, Texas, United States. Full-time hybrid role split between office and remote work, requiring at least 40 hours per week. Relocation is required for candidates located more than 50 miles from the assigned location. Reliable transportation is required.

Monthly salary: $5,250.

What you will do

• Analyze corridor, terminal, and hub operations to identify capacity constraints and improvement opportunities.
• Develop analytical models and simulation tools to evaluate infrastructure changes.
• Collaborate with Engineering Services, Finance, Network and Field Operations, Economic Development, Marketing, and Network Strategy.
• Create presentations, visualizations, and recommendations for operational and capital planning decisions.
• Explore AI-based approaches to capacity modeling.

Requirements

• Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship assistance.
• Pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
• Have less than three years of professional or military experience, excluding internships and work completed while pursuing a degree.
• Have reliable transportation to and from the assigned BNSF location.

Nice to have

• Experience with operations research, simulation, data analytics, or a related discipline.
• A cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
• Leadership experience in a campus, community, or extracurricular organization.
• Familiarity with SQL, Python, Databricks, SAS, Tableau, AnyLogic, supervised machine learning, or ClaudeCode.
