Python Developer (Insurance)

Location: Remote within the United States; candidates must reside in AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, TN, TX, VA, WI, or Washington DC.

Salary: $55–$65 USD per hour, plus potential discretionary bonuses, commissions, incentive programs, and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain Python applications supporting policy, claims, underwriting, and billing processes.
• Build REST APIs and backend services and integrate internal and external systems through APIs and web services.
• Create data-processing and automation solutions using Python and SQL.
• Work with relational databases and optimize SQL queries.
• Support cloud-based deployments, CI/CD, unit testing, debugging, production support, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on Python backend development experience.
• Experience building REST APIs and backend services with Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
• Experience with SQL, relational databases, data processing, and query optimization.
• Experience integrating applications through APIs and web services and supporting cloud deployments and CI/CD.
• Experience with unit testing, debugging, production support, performance optimization, and secure coding practices.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• 7+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Experience supporting insurance systems or related business processes.
• Broader experience with Python web frameworks, cloud deployment environments, or CI/CD.
