Exterior Parts Design Engineer / Component Owner (Automotive)

What you will do

• Act as Component Owner for assigned exterior components and subsystem areas throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Design and develop bumpers, grilles, spoilers, trims, claddings, wheel arch moldings, and other plastic exterior parts.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models and engineering drawings according to OEM standards.
• Lead design reviews, risk assessments, technical problem-solving, and engineering decisions across vehicle interfaces.
• Plan and monitor design activities, deliverables, timing, and maturity status.
• Coordinate suppliers and support industrialization, engineering change management, DFMEA, tolerance analysis, design verification, and validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• At least 3 years of experience in automotive exterior component development.
• Strong knowledge of plastic component design, injection molding, automotive exterior systems, and visible Class-A components.
• Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6, Creo, NX, or similar CAD systems.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and automotive product development processes.
• Fluent English and experience coordinating suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Experience as a Component Owner, Technical Lead, or in an equivalent technical leadership role.
