DevOps Engineer (Azure)

Location: Remote in Australia, with APAC time-zone and Australian local-business-hours coverage

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and release automation using GitHub and Azure DevOps.
• Build and manage Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure with Terraform and infrastructure as code.
• Monitor system performance, availability, capacity, and security, acting on alerts before customer impact.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement reliability improvements.
• Provide APAC operational and on-call coverage through a follow-the-sun incident response rotation.
• Collaborate with software engineering, QA, and security teams across time zones while documenting infrastructure and operational procedures.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, IT infrastructure, or cloud operations.
• 3+ years in a dedicated DevOps, SRE, or cloud infrastructure role with hands-on Azure and infrastructure-as-code experience.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, and Azure DevOps.
• Knowledge of Git, system and solution architecture, scalability, resilience, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production optimization.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software or computer engineering, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to provide operational coverage during APAC time zones and Australian local business hours.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Network implementation and architecture, including VNets, gateways, and security.
• PowerShell or Bash scripting experience.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude or GitHub Copilot.
• SQL database knowledge, Azure certifications, or experience supporting a multi-region SaaS platform and data centre infrastructure.
