Senior Engineering Manager (Machine Learning)

Location: Washington, D.C.; hybrid work requiring three days per week in the Washington, D.C. office

Salary: $160,600–$200,800 USD per year US national base salary range, with potential short-term and long-term incentives.

hirify.global designs, builds, and operates a large constellation of imaging satellites and provides cloud-based satellite imagery and data products for commercial, environmental, humanitarian, defense, and intelligence customers.

What you will do

• Lead machine learning engineering teams delivering products for defense and intelligence customers.
• Guide research and development, algorithm design, production integration, and MLOps for ML products.
• Mentor, coach, and unblock team members while supporting career growth and team development.
• Partner with product management on strategic and tactical decisions and ensure efficient delivery of product improvements.
• Define team processes for planning, code reviews, and on-call rotations.
• Establish engineering practices for software, training pipelines, inference pipelines, and production ML model maintenance.

Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant experience, including 4+ years of supervisory or engineering leadership experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Experience building, retaining, and developing diverse, geographically distributed engineering teams.
• Experience delivering data-intensive software products at scale and maintaining ML models in production.
• Strong understanding of software engineering, statistics, machine learning, operational practices, and distributed cloud computing.
• Ability to work from the Washington, D.C. office three days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience building products with sensor or geospatial data.
• Experience in remote sensing or related fields.
• Ability to obtain security clearance.
