TL;DR

What you will do

  • Assist with trajectory optimization and mission design for orbital and suborbital launch vehicle missions.
  • Design, implement, and verify auto sequences for flights, stack tests, and wet dress rehearsals.
  • Analyze and missionize optimized 3DOF trajectories for 6DOF and flight scenarios.
  • Perform pre-flight, launch-day, and post-flight Monte Carlo analysis.
  • Design and verify spacecraft separation sequences and dynamics.
  • Support GNC research and development, vehicle modeling, 6DOF simulator development, launch operations, and hardware-in-the-loop operations.

Requirements

  • Master’s, bachelor’s, or higher degree in Aerospace, Mechatronics, or an equivalent field.
  • Thorough understanding of orbital mechanics.
  • Theoretical or practical understanding of rigid body dynamics.
  • 1–2 years of software development experience.
  • 1–2 years of relevant aerospace engineering experience, including rocketry.
  • For the New Zealand role, nationality checks and ITAR eligibility apply; access may be restricted for candidates with ineligible citizenship or dual nationality.

Nice to have

  • Launch-vehicle or spacecraft mission optimization experience.
  • Experience with Python or MATLAB.
  • Experience with GMAT or STK.
  • Experience developing or implementing a basic 3DOF propagator for LEO, lunar, or interplanetary trajectories.
