Server Engineering Manager (Node.js)

What you will do

• Manage, mentor, hire, and develop a team of server engineers.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership across architecture, system design, and engineering decisions.
• Partner with product, design, and data stakeholders to define, scope, and deliver features from concept through launch.
• Develop and continuously improve scalable, secure, and efficient cloud services for the full member lifecycle.
• Maintain high standards for code quality, testing, operational readiness, observability, on-call practices, and long-term maintainability.
• Contribute approximately 50% of the time to hands-on engineering work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent industry experience.
• At least 2 years of experience managing high-performing software engineering teams.
• Deep knowledge of Node.js and TypeScript, plus familiarity with cloud architecture, deployment models, and distributed systems.
• Production experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Apple StoreKit payments and subscriptions, and Stripe payments and subscriptions for a B2C product.
• Experience with production readiness, observability, and on-call operations.
• Strong project management, communication, leadership, hiring, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
