Cyber Security Analyst L1

Location: Newport, South Wales, United Kingdom. This position is open only to sole British Citizens and requires eligibility for security clearance.

What you will do

• Continuously monitor security alerts and events using Splunk, Cortex EDR, and other SOC platforms.
• Perform initial investigation, triage, prioritization, and severity assessment of security incidents.
• Identify false positives, escalate confirmed incidents to L2 analysts, and support remediation.
• Document incidents, contribute to post-incident reviews, and ensure cases are tracked through resolution.
• Conduct IOC searches, follow predefined playbooks, and assist with customer reporting and technical demonstrations.
• Collaborate on detection use cases and progressively participate in proactive threat hunting.

Requirements

• 0–2 years of experience in a cyber analyst role; this is an entry-level position with training provided.
• Cybersecurity knowledge or a cyber technical background; networking knowledge is advantageous.
• Ability to work within deadlines and in high-pressure environments.
• Adaptability, organization, proactivity, autonomy, teamwork, and strong communication skills.
• Sole British Citizenship and eligibility for recognized security clearance are required.
