Engineer II-Emulation (SoC)

Location: Burnaby, Canada

Annual base salary: $76,000–$114,000, plus restricted stock units and quarterly bonus payments.

What you will do

• Enable hardware and firmware development and system-level co-verification for advanced System-on-Chip devices.
• Use Cadence Palladium hardware emulators and Cadence Protium FPGA-based prototyping platforms.
• Support SoC development from architectural exploration through pre-silicon verification and post-silicon validation.
• Perform hardware/firmware co-development, performance testing, power analysis, and post-silicon investigations.
• Collaborate with architects, hardware designers, firmware engineers, and verification teams.
• Develop debugging and problem-solving solutions for server hardware and networking infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
• For candidates with a master’s degree, up to two years of relevant experience.
• Linux experience and strong programming and scripting skills in Python, Tcl, and C.
• Familiarity with C/C++ embedded firmware development, digital design, RTL coding, simulation, and debugging.
• Knowledge of MIPS, ARM, and RISC-V CPU architectures.
• Strong analytical, documentation, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice to have

• Experience validating or verifying PCIe, CXL, SAS/SATA, and NVMe protocols.
• Knowledge of DDR4/DDR5 memory technologies and computer system I/O hierarchies.
• Experience with FPGA-based verification or emulation, test automation, and testing methodologies.
• Familiarity with frontend design, Git or Subversion, and Linux and Windows environments.
