Senior Mortgage Underwriter

What you will do

• Approve or deny conventional, FHA, VA, Rural Housing Development, and portfolio mortgage loans.
• Review employment, income, asset, credit, appraisal, property, and loan documentation against investor, bank, regulatory, and government requirements.
• Evaluate borrower and property risk, loan acceptability, pricing, terms, and potential fraud or misrepresentation.
• Request additional information, document approval or denial decisions, and maintain accurate loan files and databases.
• Use loan origination and investor conduit systems to ensure loan information and requests are accurate.
• Coordinate approval requirements and file status with originators, processors, closers, Realtors, builders, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience preferred; alternatively, a bachelor's degree with 2+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• FHA DE designation required.
• VA LAP designation preferred.
• Ability to work under stress, meet deadlines, interpret documents, and operate related equipment.
• Ability to travel if required to perform essential job functions.
