Frontline AI - Principal Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid role requiring at least 3 days per week onsite in Holtsville, New York, or Lincolnshire, Illinois. Travel requirements are up to 15%.

Salary: $138,800–$208,200 annual base pay, plus a target annual cash incentive of 15% of base pay.

What you will do

• Architect, design, and oversee complex customer-facing multi-platform applications using React Native, web technologies, and native Android capabilities.
• Design Android framework architectures involving background services, OS internals, Camera and Media APIs, and robust backend data integrations.
• Define software specifications, technology roadmaps, and long-term strategies for data capture, mobile architecture, and edge AI processing.
• Develop next-generation solutions integrating GenAI SDKs, advanced OCR, barcode decoding, and on-device ML workflows.
• Lead software development lifecycle practices focused on modular architecture, maintainability, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor senior engineers and advise technical teams, management, customers, and cross-functional partners on enterprise architectures and innovation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of professional experience, or 7+ years with a master’s degree.
• Experience with software architecture, system design, and scalable solutions connecting enterprise backend systems with modern client applications.
• In-depth knowledge of native Android development with Kotlin or Java, background services, OS internals, Camera and Media APIs, and React Native.
• Strong knowledge of applied computer vision, edge AI, image preprocessing, OCR, barcode decoding, and TensorFlow Lite.
• Proficiency in modern software development methodologies and practical experience adopting GenAI or AI-assisted tools in the software development lifecycle.
