AI Engineer, Agent Platform

Annual base salary: $120,000–$220,000 USD

What you will do

• Build the agent runtime for context assembly, tool invocation, model routing, and workflow tracking across multiple AI products.
• Design evaluation and observability systems that process thousands of agent traces daily and identify regressions before release.
• Own context engineering, including retrieval, ranking, compression, memory, and decisions around RAG, long context, and structured tool returns.
• Integrate and benchmark foundation models, selecting models across agents based on capability and cost.
• Build and launch internal playgrounds, agent traces, and control panels.
• Collaborate with product to turn new agent concepts into working versions within weeks.

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience shipping an AI product used by real users.
• Hands-on familiarity with modern AI development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or v0.
• Ability to work independently across backend, frontend, deployment, instrumentation, and iteration.
• Understanding of AI agent design, context management, tool-calling protocols, evaluation strategies, prompting, fine-tuning, and scaffolding tradeoffs.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Go, or Node with backend engineering experience covering APIs, databases, queues, caches, and scalable system design.
• Enough React or Next.js experience to build functional internal tools independently, together with strong product sensibility.

Nice to have

• Experience operating multi-agent systems in production, including orchestration, sub-agents, MCP, or skills.
• Experience with evaluation frameworks, LLM-as-judge systems, prompt iteration, LoRA, RLHF, or DPO.
• A public technical artifact such as a GitHub repository, blog, paper, or demo.
• Experience integrating LLMs with complex real-world data such as news, ads, geo, or user behavior at scale.
