Senior Data Scientist (Maternity Cover) - (Logistics, Workforce)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid working model with face-to-face collaboration at the Berlin campus 2 days per week

What you will do

• Develop modeling approaches for large-scale logistics and workforce optimization challenges.
• Create machine learning, operations research, and statistical solutions that improve last-mile delivery operations.
• Pair-program with the squad to automate model retraining and prediction generation.
• Collaborate with data scientists, squad leadership, stakeholders, data engineering, and technology teams.
• Define data needs and contribute to data and technology roadmap planning.
• Process semi-structured data from the BigQuery data warehouse using Spark where necessary.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience applying machine learning methods to real-world datasets.
• Fluency in Python and familiarity with NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, Matplotlib, and Plotly.
• Experience translating business problems into technical solutions.
• Experience with regression and classification using statistical, linear and nonlinear, and ensemble models such as Random Forest, XGBoost, LightGBM, and CatBoost.
• Knowledge of BigQuery, Spark, and SQL for working with large datasets.
• Ability to write maintainable code following software engineering best practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with time-series forecasting, operations research, or statistics.
