Senior HPC Engineer (Classified Computing)

What you will do

• Lead the design, deployment, and architecture of HPC systems for classified computing environments.
• Install, configure, manage, and optimize HPC clusters, including scheduling, resource allocation, and load balancing.
• Monitor system performance, conduct benchmarking, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and minimize downtime.
• Implement security controls, support compliance audits, and protect sensitive data in collaboration with security teams.
• Lead HPC projects from planning through implementation and operational support while collaborating with scientists, researchers, and IT leadership.
• Mentor junior HPC engineers and identify opportunities to improve infrastructure and operational processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, plus at least eight years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least eight years of HPC engineering experience focused on cluster management, parallel computing, and performance optimization.
• Experience working in classified environments and knowledge of NIST, DISA STIGs, and related security and compliance processes.
• Experience with HPC architecture, cluster management tools such as SLURM, PBS, or Moab, and Linux system administration.
• Scripting and automation experience with Bash, Python, or Ansible, plus performance monitoring and benchmarking tools such as Ganglia or Grafana.
• Experience with MPI, OpenMP, CUDA, and high-performance interconnects such as InfiniBand. The position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Q clearance with SCI.

Nice to have

• Experience with Lustre, GPFS, BeeGFS, or other parallel file systems and advanced storage solutions.
• Certified HPC Professional, Linux+, or Security+ certification.
• Leadership, project management, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
