What you will do

• Ideate, sketch, and iterate on new character concepts and creatures in collaboration with other developers.
• Craft detailed concept art and orthographics for 3D artists and animators to implement.
• Partner with Art Directors, designers, writers, and producers to shape the visual identity of new characters.
• Drive the creative vision to ensure characters are cohesive in their visuals, narrative, and gameplay.
• Mentor and support concept artists on the team to improve their craft.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in the video game industry as a Character Concept Artist.
• Mastery of human and animal anatomy, color theory, value, and silhouette.
• Proficiency with Photoshop or other relevant painting and design tools.
• Portfolio demonstrating high-quality stylized artwork and ability to solve complex design challenges.
• Experience mentoring artists and working cross-functionally with 3D, Animation, and Narrative teams.

Nice to have

• Experience shipping a AAA title as a Character Concept Artist.
• Experience working on an FPS title.
• Ability to create 3D proxies/blockouts or paint over 3D models as part of the design process.
