Software Development Engineer (Valkey/Redis)

Location: Dublin, Ireland; most days are spent in the Dublin office, with occasional remote work available. Core in-office hours are 10:00–16:00.

What you will do

• Build and optimize managed in-memory database services compatible with Valkey, Redis OSS, and Memcached.
• Design solutions for horizontal and vertical scaling, data replication, sharding, and migration.
• Develop robust authentication and authorization protocols.
• Contribute new features and performance optimizations to the open-source Valkey project.
• Investigate operational gaps, perform root-cause analysis, and participate in daytime on-call support approximately once every 2–3 months.
• Participate in design reviews and collaborate with engineers across the AWS In-Memory Databases team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent qualification.
• Professional programming experience with at least one software programming language.
• Experience designing or architecting systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
• Knowledge of system performance, memory management, and parallel computing principles.

Nice to have

• Experience across the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, builds, testing, and operations.
• Experience programming with C, C++, or Rust.
