Senior Freelance Womenswear Designer

Location: Central London, UK; significant time working from the office and atelier is required, and regular commuting to London is essential.

What you will do

• Develop concepts and explore design directions for womenswear collections.
• Create modern, brand-relevant garments with strong silhouettes and innovative construction.
• Refine products and translate brand DNA into commercially relevant designs.
• Explore fabrics, materials, textures, techniques, and sustainable design approaches.
• Prepare hand and digital sketches, technical garment details, and collection outcomes.
• Collaborate with product development teams and manufacturers while working to briefs, timelines, and feedback.

Requirements

• Senior-level design experience, particularly in womenswear collections.
• Strong aesthetic aligned with the COS design philosophy.
• Proven experience in contemporary, premium, or luxury fashion markets.
• Excellent portfolio showing concept development, research, mood exploration, technical sketches, garment details, and final products or collections.
• Confident hand and digital sketching skills, with an understanding of pattern cutting and garment construction.
• Ability to use 3D design tools, communicate professionally, stay organised, and work independently.
