TL;DR
Assistant Director of Student Engagement & Belonging (Student Activities and Higher Education): Developing campus-wide engagement, leadership, service, and belonging initiatives with an accent on event planning, student advising, and cross-campus collaboration. Focus on managing large-scale events, supervising student staff and volunteers, coordinating budgets and logistics, and using assessment to improve student engagement and success.

Location: Canyon, Texas, United States; onsite position with nights and weekends as needed

Salary: $3,555.50 per month

What you will do

  • Plan, organize, and execute campus traditions, leadership programs, community service activities, Homecoming, Welcome Week, and other events.
  • Coordinate event logistics, venues, contracts, budgets, risk management, curricula, marketing, assessment, and day-to-day operations.
  • Advise the Campus Activities Board and supervise approximately five Student Consultants and 25–75 student volunteers.
  • Create, maintain, and promote the programming and student organization engagement calendar.
  • Collaborate with academic and campus partners on cross-divisional student learning and engagement outcomes.
  • Manage communications, inquiries, promotional presentations, and assessment initiatives related to student activities and leadership development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four years of professional experience managing Student Activities programs.
  • Experience planning and facilitating campus-wide events, leadership training, community service activities, and student advising.
  • Strong oral, written, interpersonal, analytical, critical-thinking, organizational, administrative, and prioritization skills.
  • Experience with marketing and promotional efforts aimed at increasing student activity participation.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and throughout employment.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, marketing, or a related field.
  • Five years of related Student Activities program management experience.
  • Experience advising and supervising student staff and providing professional development.
  • Experience using assessment and data-informed decisions to improve programming.
  • Knowledge of student development theory, student personnel administration, retention, student organizations, and campus engagement.
