Staff Software Engineer (AI Runtime)

Location: Remote from the United States or Canada

Salary: $192K–$226K USD annual base salary; Canada has a separate compensation range.

hirify.global develops GraphQL infrastructure and is building Constellation, a control plane for enterprise AI agents.

What you will do

• Design and build systems for API discovery, schema understanding, and safe agent-to-API orchestration at enterprise scale.
• Own search, ranking, relevance, and query-planning systems that help AI agents find and use the right APIs and data.
• Prototype and evaluate multiple algorithmic approaches, iterating based on customer-pilot insights.
• Build agentic systems, including tool-calling frameworks, agent orchestration, and observability and evaluation tooling.
• Collaborate with a small technical team on architecture, technical tradeoffs, and roadmap direction.
• Engage with enterprise customers piloting Constellation and incorporate real usage patterns into system design.

Requirements

• Production experience owning search, ranking, relevance, or query-planning systems at scale.
• Experience designing and iterating on the underlying logic of retrieval or ranking systems and evaluating multiple algorithmic approaches.
• Ability to define problems in ambiguous environments and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
• Clear technical communication and effectiveness in a small, fast-moving team with minimal process overhead.
• Applicants must be based in the United States or Canada.

Nice to have

• Production experience with Rust.
• Experience with agent orchestration, tool-calling frameworks, or agent evaluation and observability systems.
• Experience owning retrieval quality in RAG systems.
• Background in distributed query engines, federated query planning, or database query optimization.
