Lab Assistant I (Genetic Diagnostics)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; onsite laboratory role

Salary: Starting at $21 per hour, with additional shift differentials for second and third shifts and weekends.

What you will do

• Receive, prepare, and route blood tubes, tissue, and other specimens to the appropriate laboratory workflows.
• Maintain physical and electronic sample storage, organization, shipment preparation, and disposal.
• Enter patient and specimen data accurately into the Laboratory Inventory Management System.
• Maintain laboratory inventory, materials, and supplies, and assist with cleaning equipment and benches.
• Complete required training and deadlines, recognize issues, and escalate them to the lead or supervisor.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as TAG and 5S.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; a science-related degree is preferred.
• Less than one year of industry-related experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and perform repetitive hand motions, computer, telephone, and reading tasks.
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. HIPAA/PHI privacy, policy compliance, and security training must be completed within the first 30 days of hire.

Culture & Benefits

• Four 10-hour shifts, scheduled Wednesday–Saturday, Thursday–Sunday, or Sunday–Wednesday.
• Available shifts include 5:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., 10:00 a.m.–8:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m.–1:30 a.m., and 9:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
• Second- and third-shift differentials are available, plus an additional weekend differential.
