Senior Software Engineer (Python/Java)

What you will do

• Design and develop applications, tools, and user interfaces for advanced data processing and command-and-control workflows.
• Translate operational use cases and high-level requirements into features, technical specifications, and delivery artifacts.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on interface control documents, subsystem behaviors, and integration patterns.
• Develop and optimize large-scale data analysis pipelines using OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, and distributed data technologies.
• Build and refine high-performance back-end services and APIs while improving application scalability, maintainability, and efficiency.
• Guide testing strategies, diagnose complex issues, ensure reliable software delivery, and mentor junior developers.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience in collaborative environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Java.
• Experience building React front-end applications and Django back-end services.
• Full-stack development experience, including DevOps workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, plus recent experience building applications, analysis tools, or mission-focused software.

Nice to have

• Experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch indexing, search, and analytics.
• Knowledge of legacy-system reverse engineering and messaging or task queues such as Kafka, gRPC, or Celery.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, databases, data stores, and OpenTelemetry.
• Familiarity with GitLab, Jira, Confluence, telecommunications, or Internet protocols.
