Senior AI Developer (AI)

Location: Remote within the USA; preference given for the EST time zone.

Cloud-based software is developed for procurement, budgeting, payments, and grants management by public-sector and government organizations.

What you will do

• Own the evolution of shared AI components, libraries, and platform capabilities, setting standards for reliability, testability, and developer experience.
• Design and build AI-powered product features end-to-end, including LLM orchestration, prompt engineering workflows, evaluation, observability, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• Build CI/CD patterns, deployment pipelines, observability tooling, and developer workflows for predictable production delivery of agents.
• Lead adoption of coding assistants, agentic development workflows, and evaluation frameworks.
• Build and optimize SaaS platform systems, including background processing, scalable APIs, ingestion pipelines, search and discovery, and PostgreSQL performance.
• Set technical direction, translate ambiguous problems into concrete plans, conduct technical reviews, establish best practices, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on software development, deep proficiency in at least one modern backend or full-stack language, and breadth across the full software development lifecycle.
• Understanding of agentic system design, including orchestration, tool use, memory, retrieval, evaluation, and agent-to-agent communication, with sound architectural judgment under real-world constraints.
• Hands-on experience with production agentic tooling, including orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or CrewAI; LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Bedrock; vector databases; and evaluation or observability platforms such as LangSmith or PromptLayer.
• Experience building scalable multi-tenant SaaS applications, ideally with C#, Ruby, Rails, Elixir, Python, or a similar language.
• Experience delivering production, client-facing agentic solutions end-to-end, from prototype through stable production.
• Strong AWS experience, or similar Azure experience, including Lambda, ECS, S3, RDS, API Gateway, and CloudWatch, with the ability to design observable and operationally sound cloud-native architectures.
• Deep understanding of SaaS architecture principles, including tradeoffs between speed, scalability, and maintainability.
• Track record building developer platforms and delivery systems, including CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, testing frameworks, and processes for shipping AI features safely.
• Experience with Redis-backed job queues, schedulers, high-scale data pipelines, PostgreSQL schema design and performance optimization, production REST APIs, event-driven development, search and discovery systems, and security practices covering authentication, data isolation, and secrets management.
• Demonstrated AI-first development approach, with concrete examples of using LLMs and agentic tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot across daily engineering work.

Nice to have

• Experience in government technology, the public sector, or another compliance-heavy domain involving auditability, data isolation, or security reviews.
