What you will do
- Translate primarily legal documents from English into French.
- Check the linguistic quality of legal documents drafted in French by non-native speakers.
- Provide linguistic and terminological assistance to judges and Registry members.
- Contribute to testing, improving, and using new translation and editing tools.
- Handle assignment-related information confidentially.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalent higher education qualification, preferably in translation or law.
- At least four years of professional experience translating legal documents after obtaining the qualification.
- French at first-language level and excellent English required.
- Ability to test, improve, and use new translation and editing tools.
- Citizenship of a Council of Europe member state and fulfilment of that state’s civil-service appointment conditions required.
- National service obligations must be discharged, the applicant must be under 65, and certain family relationships with serving Council of Europe staff members are excluded.
