Principal Consultant - AI Security & Governance (SME)

Location: London, hybrid

Salary: £70,000–£100,000 per annum; other listed salary ranges include £50,000–£60,000, £70,000–£100,000, and £80,000–£100,000 per annum.

What you will do

• Advise boards, audit committees, and risk committees on AI risk, governance, risk appetite, and delivery decisions.
• Design and implement AI governance frameworks, policies, risk assessments, controls, and assurance approaches.
• Threat-model generative AI and agentic AI architectures, including prompt injection, data leakage, excessive agency, and tool-use escalation.
• Review AI architectures, guardrails, evaluations, data access, permissions, IAM, DLP, and non-human identity risks.
• Support clients with EU AI Act, UK GDPR, DPIAs, NIST AI RMF, and ISO 42001 requirements.
• Lead client workshops, contribute to proposals and pre-sales, and develop reusable AI security and governance materials.

Requirements

• Experience in security, risk, data, GRC, or a related field, combined with a strong consulting and client-facing background.
• Experience designing governance frameworks, risk assessments, policies, and controls.
• Practical understanding of how AI systems are built and secured, including LLMs, RAG, agentic AI, tool use, and orchestration.
• Strong knowledge of AI security risks and relevant regulations and frameworks, particularly EU AI Act, UK GDPR/ICO, DPIAs, NIST AI RMF, and ISO 42001.
• Experience working with regulated organisations and communicating effectively with senior executives and technical teams.

Nice to have

• AWS, Azure, or GCP security experience, plus IAM and cloud security experience.
• Python or scripting skills and experience with model risk management or second-line risk.
• Experience with AI governance, data security, AI security, or evaluation platforms and tools.
• Financial services experience, relevant professional certifications, or UK SC clearance eligibility.
