Backend Software Engineer (Python/data pipelines): Building and optimizing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and backend services that ingest, transform, and expose financial data with an accent on performance, database design, and data quality. Location: Barcelona, Spain; hybrid work with an office presence
Salary: €35,000–€50,000 gross per year

is a Barcelona-based fintech startup providing a SaaS wealth management platform for banks, family offices, and wealth managers.
What you will do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and loading data from multiple sources.
- Write efficient, production-grade Python code for high-volume datasets, with attention to performance, memory efficiency, and algorithms.
- Collaborate on SQL and NoSQL database schema design and optimize query performance.
- Implement unit tests, integration tests, and data quality checks to protect pipeline integrity.
- Deploy and improve pipelines using CI/CD and Docker, while participating in code reviews.
- Own data ingestion and transformation work from business requirements through production deployment.
Requirements
- Strong Python and/or JavaScript engineering skills.
- Experience building and operating data pipelines using ETL/ELT patterns, orchestration, and large-scale data ingestion, or experience building backend product services.
- Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases, schema design, and query optimization.
- Experience with CI/CD workflows and containerization such as Docker.
- Ability to work autonomously, navigate unfamiliar codebases, define scope, and deliver requirements to production.
- Professional proficiency in English and Spanish is required.

- Experience with Elasticsearch.
- Curiosity about financial markets and willingness to understand financial data and related formulas.
