R&D Engineer (HPC)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States

Compensation: $150,000–$220,000 per year

What you will do

• Research and analyze existing high-performance computing algorithms.
• Translate advanced mathematical concepts, including calculus, into discrete computational models.
• Evaluate competing tools, algorithms, and performance benchmarks, and present findings to leadership.
• Collaborate with hardware architects to define proof-of-concept features and system requirements.
• Provide performance estimates and benchmarking data throughout projects.

Requirements

• Advanced degree, such as a Master’s or PhD, in physics, mathematics, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• Strong expertise in algorithms, advanced calculus, discrete mathematics, and modeling physical phenomena.
• Programming experience or familiarity with Python or Julia.
• Ability to communicate research findings clearly to technical and non-technical leadership.
• Experience with scientific computing.

Nice to have

• Exposure to hardware acceleration, HPC, or GPU/FPGA technologies.
• Startup experience.
