TL;DR
Senior Autonomy Robotics Engineer (Robotics): Designing, developing, testing, and deploying autonomous flight algorithms and systems for aircraft ranging from small drones to helicopters with an accent on perception, state estimation, vehicle control, and sensor integration. Focus on optimizing multithreaded C++ and Python software, building CI/CD pipelines, conducting flight tests, and leading robotics engineering projects.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA, United States; occasional local telecommuting is permitted. Travel within the U.S. is required approximately six times per year for flight tests and demonstrations.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, refine, test, integrate, and deploy autonomous flight algorithms and systems.
  • Implement mission execution models, including behavior trees and state machines.
  • Develop perception, state estimation, navigation, guidance, and autonomous aerial vehicle control algorithms.
  • Integrate lidar, cameras, GPS, and gimbals into flight systems and develop sensor data pipelines.
  • Design and optimize multithreaded software in C++ and Python within Linux environments.
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines, lead projects through production, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in aerospace, robotics, and/or autonomous flight.
  • Experience with robotics perception, state estimation, autonomous aerial vehicle controllers, and flight-system sensor integration.
  • Professional programming experience in C++ and Python and development in Linux.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or similar environments, robotics hardware and software, software development life cycle practices, and ROS.
  • Ability to travel within the United States approximately six times per year for flight tests and demonstrations.
