Senior R-D Engineer for the Polymer Joining and Balloon Forming Centers of Excellence (CoE)

Location: Mounds View, Minnesota, United States; 4 days onsite and 1 day remote, with up to 25% travel.

Salary: $105,600–$158,400 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Lead the evaluation and development of manufacturing technologies for polymer joining, balloon forming, extrusion, materials engineering, and catheter manufacturing.
• Develop multi-year manufacturing technology strategies and capability roadmaps.
• Design and execute feasibility studies, proof-of-concept activities, and experimental plans for new materials, equipment, and processes.
• Collaborate with research, product development, quality, supplier engineering, and manufacturing teams to mature technologies from concept through implementation.
• Analyze technical and business data to support prioritization, capability development, and investment recommendations.
• Communicate technology strategies, business cases, assessments, and recommendations to engineering teams and senior leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in manufacturing process development, manufacturing technology development, product development, or engineering within a regulated industry.
• Experience contributing to technical evaluations, feasibility studies, experimental investigations, or process development.
• Experience collaborating across engineering, quality, manufacturing, or product development teams.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required at hire and throughout employment; sponsorship is not available for roles below Principal level.
• For bachelor's degrees earned outside the United States, the degree must satisfy the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).

Nice to have

• Experience with polymer processing, balloon forming, extrusion, polymer joining, materials engineering, laser manufacturing, or medical device manufacturing.
• Experience developing manufacturing technologies before formal product development programs.
• Experience with design controls, validation, technology transfer, and medical device development.
• Experience developing business cases, technology roadmaps, investment recommendations, or long-term capability strategies.
• Degree in Chemical, Materials, Mechanical, Polymer, or Biomedical Engineering.
