Data Engineer Lead

Location: Parsippany, New Jersey, United States; primarily in the office

Base salary: $125,000–$135,000 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate production-grade PySpark and Python data pipelines on AWS EMR, Glue, and S3.
• Deliver data products end to end, from requirements and technical design through CI/CD, release management, and production readiness.
• Define pipeline structures, data models, SLAs, architecture decisions, and fault-tolerant ingestion patterns.
• Establish engineering standards for coding, data quality, reusable pipelines, observability, and documentation.
• Review code, pair with engineers on complex problems, and mentor junior engineers.
• Use Claude Code CLI and Snowflake Cortex to improve development productivity and solution quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of hands-on data engineering experience delivering production data pipelines end to end.
• Strong experience with PySpark, Python, SQL, Spark optimization, partition management, and Snowflake query performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with AWS S3, Glue, EMR, Aurora, Lambda, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Practical knowledge of lakehouse architecture, data modeling, and fault-tolerant ingestion.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification or equivalent.
• Insurance or financial services data experience, including claims, policy, risk, or actuarial structures.
• Experience writing ADRs, design notes, and technical documentation.
• Experience using GenAI tools such as Claude Code CLI or Snowflake Cortex.
