Senior Scientist - In Vitro Biology

Location: Portishead, United Kingdom; predominantly lab-based and onsite

What you will do

• Run immunological assays involving flow cytometry, IncuCyte, MACS sorting, primary cell culture and differentiation, ELISA, Luminex, TR-FRET, and ex-vivo tissue processing.
• Implement and develop assays supporting immuno-oncology, autoimmune disease, inflammation, infection, and microbiome programs.
• Interpret experimental data and produce scientifically sound reports with clear conclusions and future directions.
• Lead or deputy-lead in-vitro biology studies and execute projects with minimal supervision.
• Provide technical leadership, coach junior scientific staff, and present scientific information internally and externally.
• Collaborate with business development, client services, operational, and project teams to scope new work and revise scientific proposals.

Requirements

• MSc or higher with a biological focus.
• Demonstrable laboratory experience in immuno-oncology, autoimmune disease, and inflammation, including neuroinflammation.
• Understanding of the drug discovery process and relevant scientific and technical standards.
• Strong scientific communication, problem-solving, collaboration, scheduling, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work to tight timelines and modify workflows when needed.
• Proficiency with Microsoft software, Outlook, and Teams, plus awareness of laboratory health and safety standards.

Nice to have

• PhD in a relevant discipline.
• Flow cytometry, cancer immunology, sample handling, and complex immunology experience.
• Practical experience executing biological assays in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO environment.
• Previous industry laboratory experience.
