Emergency Medical Technician (Healthcare)

Location: Lowell General Hospital, 295 Varnum Ave, Lowell, Massachusetts, United States. Full-time variable shifts covering days, evenings, and overnights; rotating weekend and holiday shifts are required.

Salary: $22.00–$25.15 per hour.

What you will do

• Provide direct patient care in prehospital settings, emergency departments, hospital units, during ambulance transport, and during scheduled or urgent home visits.
• Assess patients, obtain medical histories, monitor vital signs, perform diagnostic tests, and administer treatments under physician orders and Massachusetts statewide treatment protocols.
• Prepare patients for transport, maintain patient stability, and provide skilled interhospital transport care.
• Document patient care accurately in medical records using Epic EMR.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, referring providers, allied health professionals, public safety personnel, and EMS leadership.
• Support discharge planning, care plans, referrals, performance improvement activities, and emergency department or inpatient unit patient technician duties.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Emergency Medical Technician-Basic program.
• National Registered EMT (NREMT) certification and Massachusetts EMT-Basic certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Massachusetts-issued driver's license and competence in safe ambulance operations are required.
• Ability to work irregular variable shifts, including rotating weekends and holidays, and handle emergency and crisis situations.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift, position, push, or transfer patients and equipment weighing up to 125 pounds.

Nice to have

• BCLS Instructor certification.
• Incident Command System (ICS) 100 course.
• Three years of related experience.
