TL;DR
Spring 2027 Software Co-op (Computer Vision) (Robotics and Perception): Developing, testing, and deploying computer vision and machine learning solutions for robotic perception systems with an accent on sensor evaluation, model prototyping, and Linux/ROS software. Focus on improving perception pipeline performance, investigating vision-language models for grasp ranking and anomaly detection, and validating systems through simulation and benchmarking.

Location: Onsite at the Bedford, Massachusetts office. The co-op runs approximately from January to June 2027, with flexible dates.

What you will do

  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems engineers to design, test, and validate robotic perception approaches.
  • Evaluate perception sensors, including cost-down alternatives, and benchmark their performance.
  • Develop and test computer vision and machine learning models for depth completion, stereo vision, and object detection.
  • Explore model-based approaches and simulation tools to improve perception pipelines and reduce system bring-up time.
  • Investigate vision-language models for grasp ranking, SKU identification, and anomaly detection.
  • Develop, debug, deploy, and document robotic software components in a Linux/ROS environment, presenting findings to the engineering team.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Programming experience in Python and/or C++.
  • Experience developing in Linux, preferably Ubuntu, and familiarity with ROS.
  • Familiarity with robotics and classical or learning-based computer vision.
  • Experience with computer vision or machine learning libraries such as OpenCV or PyTorch.
  • Understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms, along with strong analytical, debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
