Spring 2027 AI/ML Engineering Intern (AI)

Location: Washington, DC; on-site five days a week for the full six-month term. Full housing and relocation are provided for co-ops outside the DC metro area.

Salary: $25.00 per hour, plus a $2,000 monthly housing stipend.

hirify.global is an AI technology startup developing software for fleet-scale nuclear reactor construction through its Nuclear Operating System (NOS).

What you will do

• Build and ship ML and AI features for site evaluation, red flag analysis, scheduling, lessons learned, and project tools inside NOS.
• Develop AI agents and agent workflows that operate with NOS data and tools, including MCP interfaces and tool-use frameworks.
• Develop data pipelines and integrations across Palantir Foundry, AWS GovCloud, and other systems, while contributing to the NOS data ontology.
• Build predictive and anomaly-detection models, including time-series analysis of sensor and operational data from active projects.
• Own model quality activities including evaluation criteria, acceptance thresholds, regression suites, issue triage, and root-cause analysis.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a BS program in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical field; available for the full six-month term and returning to school afterward.
• Strong Python fundamentals and hands-on exposure to modern ML and LLM tooling such as PyTorch or Hugging Face.
• Experience shipping working software or ML projects through coursework, personal projects, internships, or co-ops.
• U.S. Person status is required because the role involves technology subject to U.S. export controls; visa sponsorship is not provided.
• Willingness and ability to work on-site in Washington, DC, five days a week.

Nice to have

• Experience with LLMs and agents, including prompting, fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluations, or tool use.
• Experience with Palantir Foundry and AIP, AWS, or another major cloud platform; Foundry exposure is strongly valued.
• Experience with exploratory data analysis, large messy datasets, time-series or sensor data, MLOps tooling, or model CI/CD.
• Interest in energy, national security, industrial software, regulated industries, or nuclear engineering.
