Data Engineer (Python)

Annual base salary: $200,000–$250,000 USD

What you will do

• Build scalable, centralized, and validated representations of vendor and proprietary datasets.
• Review vendor data and documentation, working with external vendors to clarify data behavior and conventions.
• Implement controls to identify and resolve data issues during daily processing.
• Own and evolve the instrument and security master across asset classes.
• Design and maintain models for reference, fundamental, market, index, and exchange data.
• Partner with quantitative researchers and traders while providing technical leadership and mentorship on data quality, testing, and system design.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with strong Python proficiency.
• 5+ years working on reference data or security master systems in an engineering capacity.
• Knowledge of identifiers, corporate actions, exchange and venue data, calendars, fundamental datasets, and market datasets.
• Experience with data modeling in quantitative or proprietary trading environments.
• Strong unit-testing or test-driven development practices and hands-on Linux experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with data storage formats, filesystems, and event queues.
• Experience in high-frequency trading or similar proprietary trading firms.
