Senior Fellow and Director, North Africa, the Mediterranean, and the Sahel

Location: Washington, DC, USA; in-office presence required Monday–Thursday, with Friday remote

Salary: $150,000–$234,000 per year

What you will do

• Set the strategic vision and priorities for the North Africa, Mediterranean, and Sahel program.
• Conceptualize and lead research, advocacy, convening, and applied policy initiatives.
• Build relationships with governments, international organizations, technology companies, academia, philanthropy, civil society, and other stakeholders.
• Represent the program in high-level forums, expert dialogues, public events, media engagements, and policy discussions.
• Lead fundraising, proposal development, donor relations, program budgets, timelines, deliverables, and performance reporting.
• Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate fellows, analysts, research staff, consultants, and interns.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a related field and 10 years of relevant experience, or a PhD in a related field and 7 years of relevant experience.
• Significant subject-matter expertise and credibility relating to North Africa, the Mediterranean, and/or the Sahel.
• Experience developing and executing research, policy, or advocacy programs.
• Demonstrated ability to manage funding opportunities, donor relationships, budgets, timelines, and reporting obligations.
• Experience producing written analysis such as reports, policy briefs, op-eds, articles, commentary, or testimony.
• Strong institutional leadership, collaboration, communication, and people-management skills.
