Associate Director, QC Microbiology (Biopharma)

Location: Onsite full time in Durham, North Carolina, United States. Laboratory presence is required for at least one hour per day, three times per week.

What you will do

• Oversee microbiological monitoring programs and methods for processes, instruments, and equipment.
• Manage environmental monitoring, clean utility monitoring, and compressed gas monitoring activities.
• Oversee product testing, including bioburden, endotoxin, host purity, and non-host testing.
• Execute and review routine microbiology laboratory work and perform testing when required.
• Conduct advanced data analysis, troubleshooting, method verification, qualification, and investigations.
• Maintain laboratory safety, documentation, technical writing, labeling, storage, and hazardous-waste procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline with 13–15 years of technical management experience, or a master’s degree with 11–14 years of experience.
• Doctorate in microbiology with 9–12 years of related experience and/or equivalent training is preferred.
• At least five years of managerial experience.
• Demonstrated experience with microbiological monitoring programs, method activities, investigations, scientific literature, and current regulations.
• Strong documentation, technical writing, scientific reasoning, statistical analysis, collaboration, and team-building skills.
• Ability to work onsite full time and maintain regular laboratory presence in Durham, North Carolina.
