Microbiology Associate II (Sunday-Thursday, 2nd Shift) (Biotechnology)

Location: USA - NC - Durham - National Way; full-time onsite attendance required. Sunday–Thursday, second shift, with approximately 75% or more of the workday spent in the laboratory or manufacturing facility.

Contract manufacturing biotechnology facility supporting microbiology testing, laboratory operations, and process development.

What you will do

• Execute routine microbial laboratory work and protocols using technical discretion.
• Support environmental monitoring, including air viable, total air particulate, and surface viable testing.
• Perform clean utility and compressed gas monitoring, including water sampling, bioburden, conductivity, TOC, coliform, nitrate, and gas identification tests.
• Conduct product testing such as bioburden, endotoxin, host purity, and non-host testing, as well as media release activities.
• Make detailed observations, perform elementary data analysis, report results, and troubleshoot monitoring methods.
• Handle, label, store, and dispose of chemicals, biohazards, and hazardous waste in accordance with safety requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in a scientific discipline and 2–3 years of relevant cGMP experience; or a master’s degree with 1 year of relevant cGMP experience; or a PhD in Microbiology with no related experience.
• Knowledge of sampling equipment, laboratory instruments, microbiology monitoring programs, current regulations, and scientific literature.
• Technical writing skills, including the ability to prepare reports, correspondence, and procedures.
• Ability to apply scientific reasoning, statistical analysis, and advanced mathematical concepts.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for more than 3 hours, and wear required PPE.
• Ability to work onsite in Durham on the Sunday–Thursday second shift.
