SOC Analyst (Cybersecurity)

Location: Washington, DC — onsite. U.S. citizenship and an active Secret or Top Secret clearance are required.

What you will do

• Monitor, detect, and analyze security threats, risks, and alerts using SOC tools, escalating incidents when required.
• Provide Tier 1 incident response and support Tier 2 escalation during high-volume or critical events.
• Perform static and dynamic malware analysis, assess indicators of compromise, and conduct network forensics with deep packet inspection.
• Implement remediation and recovery activities following security incidents.
• Develop detection content, improve SOC processes and playbooks, and support SOC policy and procedure development.
• Conduct monthly threat hunts, prepare situational-awareness reports, and coordinate responses with cyber teams and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, GCIH, or GCIA.
• At least 4 years of experience in security operations, incident response, or cyber threat analysis.
• Strong knowledge of SOC operations, incident detection, and response workflows.
• Experience or familiarity with malware analysis, network forensics, and packet-level inspection.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Active Secret or Top Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship required.

Nice to have

• Advanced certifications such as CISSP, GCFA, GCIH, or GCIA.
• Experience supporting NTIA, the Department of Commerce, or other federal civilian agencies.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms, IDS/IPS, and endpoint monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and Risk Management Framework.
• Experience developing and maturing SOC playbooks, processes, and detection capabilities.
