Data Scientist II (Fraud Detection)

Location: Remote role based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. No travel is required, but the role includes weekend on-call shifts approximately six times per year.

What you will do

• Partner with Business Unit Leads and merchant portfolios to identify decisioning performance gaps and implement solutions.
• Build, deploy, and maintain production machine learning models that identify fraud.
• Develop automation to reduce repetitive manual work.
• Run experiments to identify effective decisioning strategies while balancing complexity and performance.
• Communicate complex analytical and machine learning concepts to Customer Success, Sales, and selected external audiences.
• Write production and offline analytical code in Python and work with distributed data pipelines using Spark, Databricks, and GCP.

Requirements

• Degree in computer science or a comparable analytical field.
• 3+ years of post-undergraduate professional experience.
• Strong machine learning and statistical knowledge.
• Professional Python development and code review experience in a shared codebase.
• Practical SQL knowledge and experience designing experiments and collecting data.
• Experience with distributed analytics and data tools such as Spark and Databricks.

Nice to have

• Experience in fraud, payments, or e-commerce.
• Experience with distributed data analysis, production A/B testing, or AI coding agents and automation.
• Passion for well-tested, production-grade code.
• Advanced degree.
