Senior Systems Engineer (Medical Device)

Location: Union City, California, United States

Salary: $130,000–$150,000 annually depending on experience, plus potential annual bonus and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do

• Develop medical device solutions from technology exploration and product definition through integration, release testing, and sustaining activities.
• Translate customer needs into product requirements and engineering specifications, and document design inputs and outputs.
• Coordinate technical contributors and collaborate on technology selection for software-controlled electromechanical systems.
• Manage design history files, project plans, milestones, schedules, and technical deliverables.
• Conduct engineering, integration, verification, and validation testing, including protocols, reports, and regression analysis.
• Perform complaint, failure, risk management, design transfer, reliability, manufacturability, and field-issue activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field with 5–8 years of experience, or a master’s degree with 1–3 years of experience, or a PhD with at least 1 year of experience.
• Strong systems engineering knowledge, including systems engineering principles, system modeling, and transformation applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and technical communication skills.
• Ability to manage priorities independently, deliver against schedules, and collaborate across functions and organizations.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.

Nice to have

• Technical expertise in medical devices, applicable regulations, and international standards.
• Experience with MATLAB, LabVIEW, or EA.
• Experience providing technical guidance or leading projects and teams.
