TL;DR
Lead Designer - Teva (Footwear): Developing globally relevant footwear designs from market insights and briefs through prototypes and finished products with an accent on technical drawings, materials, construction techniques, and 3D design. Focus on managing tech packs, collaborating with development and engineering teams, coordinating seasonal timelines, and mentoring designers while meeting commercial and pricing goals.

Location: Goleta, California, United States; hybrid schedule with office attendance typically three times per week, Tuesday through Thursday

Salary: $108,700–$146,700 per year

What you will do

  • Interpret briefs, market research, and trend insights to develop innovative Teva footwear concepts.
  • Create illustrations, technical drawings, tech packs, blueprints, and material specifications in line with brand guidelines.
  • Present design projects and communicate creative direction to development, engineering, sales, marketing, and merchandising stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple design projects and seasonal creation timelines from concept through finished product.
  • Review prototypes, update tech packs, and integrate 3D design into product development while meeting pricing goals.
  • Travel internationally to factory partners and mentor team members through design presentations and internal meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6+ years of related design experience, preferably in footwear.
  • Experience creating technical drawings, tech packs, and blueprints.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications, macOS, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Romans CAD, and 3D rendering or prototyping software.
  • Knowledge of footwear product design, outsole construction, last making, materials, color, and the transition from 2D concepts to 3D products.
  • Strong presentation, communication, project management, organization, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
