Senior Package Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: Jacksonville, Florida, United States of America; up to 25% domestic and international travel may be required.

What you will do

• Develop and validate sterile and non-sterile packaging systems for new medical devices and established product lines.
• Plan, coordinate, and direct packaging systems projects of significant scope.
• Qualify packaging components and systems for research and development and packaging systems projects.
• Design and validate packaging components, materials, specifications, labeling, and packaging processes.
• Lead technical activities for the manufacture, installation, qualification, and operation of packaging systems.
• Resolve technical design and process issues while implementing packaging and labeling improvements that meet quality, regulatory, cost, and business requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, science, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• At least two years of relevant professional experience in package engineering.
• Knowledge and experience with ISO 11607-1:2019 and ISO 11607-2:2019 are required.
• Experience with human factors and usability testing for labeling content and aseptic transfer techniques.
• Experience with FDA and/or notified body audits in package engineering.
• Knowledge of packaging and labeling regulations and standards, plus the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex technical problems.

Nice to have

• Medical device industry experience and knowledge of test methods for sterile barrier packaging systems.
• Knowledge of packaging graphics, process development validation, testing equipment, and supplier processes.
• Experience with equipment crating for transport.
• Experience applying Six Sigma or lean tools and using statistical analysis tools such as Minitab.
• Experience serving as a technical lead on projects.
