Sr Packaging Engineer

Location: Dexter, Michigan, United States; on-site presence required four days per week with one remote workday

Salary: $98,400–$147,600 annually, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Lead sustaining packaging initiatives, including design and supplier changes, CAPAs, cost reduction, and supply continuity projects.
• Design, develop, and maintain sterile barrier systems, packaging components, assemblies, and specifications.
• Plan and execute packaging verification and validation activities, including protocols, testing, analysis, reporting, and documentation.
• Evaluate product changes and determine packaging testing, validation, or redesign requirements.
• Partner with manufacturing sites and distribution centers to troubleshoot packaging issues and support repackaging operations.
• Support audits, regulatory submissions, standards assessments, complaint investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of relevant engineering experience, or an advanced degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in packaging engineering, manufacturing engineering, product development engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of packaging materials, packaging processes, technical documentation, testing, and engineering problem-solving methods.
• Experience supporting design or process changes through quality management system requirements.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required at the time of hire and throughout employment; sponsorship is not available for this role.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Packaging Engineering with 5+ or 3+ years of packaging engineering experience, respectively.
• Medical device or other highly regulated manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of ISO 11607, ISO 13485, Design Control, sterilization methods, sterile barrier systems, and biomedical materials.
• Experience with root cause analysis, CAPA management, Lean, Six Sigma, project management, and supply chain collaboration.
