Sr Human Factors Design Engineer (Medical Devices)

Salary: $126,400–$189,600 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Support the full product lifecycle for the Affera Mapping and Ablation System, including customer needs, user profiles, task analysis, interface design, usability testing, risk analysis, design validation, and post-launch analysis.
• Conduct field studies, literature reviews, human subjects research, and workflow investigations to inform requirements and product concepts.
• Design and execute formative and summative usability evaluations for hardware and software prototypes with intended users.
• Develop research methods, statistical analysis plans, human factors investigations, and design recommendations.
• Collaborate with product management, clinical specialists, engineering, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, marketing, and technical communications.
• Lead human factors and user experience activities and small teams, with global travel as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Advanced knowledge of human physical and psychological capabilities and methods used to study them.
• Experience planning and conducting human subjects research, analyzing data, and reporting results verbally and in writing.
• Experience with medical device design and a deep understanding of FDA and IEC guidelines.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required at the time of hire and throughout employment; sponsorship is not available for roles below Principal level.
• Foreign bachelor’s degrees must satisfy the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).

Nice to have

• Degree concentration in Human Factors Engineering, HCI, Cognitive Psychology, Interactive Design, or a related field.
• Experience applying human factors and usability engineering principles to hardware and software products.
• Experience developing combined software and hardware products with product teams.
• Experience with design thinking, human-centered design, service design, UX/UI design, systems thinking, analytical thinking, and storytelling.
• Ability to influence diverse stakeholders and manage competing priorities in complex, changing environments.
